Community Arts Forum

The Community Arts Forum (CAF) is the umbrella body for community arts in Northern Ireland.

With a membership that spans all art forms and all areas of Northern Ireland CAF aims to provide greater access to the arts to all people in Northern Ireland by providing:

  • development
  • advocacy and networking
  • training opportunities
  • research and development

CAF membership is open to anyone who has an interest in, or works within, community arts. We operate an open door policy and provide a warm welcome and a wealth of knowledge, resources and expert advice.

Community Media Council

Community Media Council:

The Community Media Council for Northern Ireland was created in order to provide a networking opportunity for Community Radio Licensees in Northern Ireland. It has developed into a forum for sharing ideas, information and expertise as well as support to organisations seeking to secure licences. In addition, the body decided to expand to represent the three strands of Community Media, i.e. Radio, Television and Internet.

The Council has developed strong links with the regulator (Ofcom), the representative body in the Republic of Ireland (Craol) and the equivalent body for the UK (CMA). In addition to full membership there are a number of grades of membership to allow individuals and non-licence holding groups to become involved. All members agree to adhere to the Charter of the CMC.

Féile an Phobail was established in 1988. Its purpose was to celebrate the positive side of the community, its creativity, its energy, its passion for the arts, and for sport. It has grown from an organisation which organised one week long festival, to an organisation which organises three major festivals, one monthly comedy club and numerous specialised events throughout the year not to mention Féile FM103.2
